Description
Conditionally Scarce, Underrated 1891 Half Dollar
1891 50C MS 65 PCGS. Struck during the twilight of Christian Gobrecht's Seated Liberty design, the 1891 half dollar was not a carefully preserved issue. While Mint State examples are occasionally available through the near-Gem level, Gems are surprisingly elusive. This is a frosty, lightly patinated survivor that is indicative of an even higher grade. PCGS reports only 16 examples in MS 65 with a scant 3 pieces finer (1/00).From the Indiana Collection.
