Description

1852 Half Dollar, MS65
A Rarity in This Grade

1852 50C WB-101, Die Pair 1, R.4, MS65 PCGS Secure. Uncirculated 1852 Seated half dollars are scarce, and this Gem example is rare. Only a few finer coins are known. Frosty surfaces yield warm golden toning and show just a few light abrasions. Stars 7, 8, and 9 exhibit weakness, but the central devices are generally sharp. One obverse die was used for the coinage of 77,130 half dollars at the Philadelphia Mint in 1852, paired to three different reverse dies. Population: 5 in 65, 1 finer (6/18).
