Description

1860-S Half Dollar, MS63
Large S Mintmark, Lightly Toned

1860-S 50C Large S, WB-101, Die Pair 1, R.3, MS63 PCGS. The 1860-S is known with either a Large S or a Medium S mintmark. Both varieties are designated as Rarity-3 by Bill Bugert, but in our experience the Large S is more often encountered in better grades. This well-struck and coruscating half dollar is lightly toned despite occasional glimpses of mauve patina. Only a few small marks emerge beneath a lens. Population: 10 in 63, 9 finer (7/18).
