Description

1870-S Half Dollar, MS62
Very Small S, Rarely Offered in Mint State

1870-S 50C Very Small S, WB-101, Die Pair 1, R.4, MS62 PCGS. The late, lapped die state, showing weak date numerals and virtually no drapery from Liberty's elbow. The 1870-S is a rare date in Uncirculated condition, sought-after among series specialists. This example is well-struck and satiny, with no mentionable toning. A few light, scattered abrasions are surprisingly minor for the grade. Population (all varieties included): 9 in 62, 11 finer (7/19).
