    Description

    1838 No Drapery Quarter, MS65
    Transitional Issue

1838 25C No Drapery MS65 NGC. The 1838 No Drapery quarters were struck after the earlier Capped Bust design was discontinued. The Philadelphia Mint coined 366,000 of the earlier design and 466,000 of these Seated quarters. High-grade examples are rarely encountered, with the typical survivor falling in the XF to AU range. Any Mint State piece is elusive, and Gem specimens are rare. This lovely example has brilliant silver surfaces and bold design features, showing only slight weakness on a few stars at the upper-left obverse. Census: 6 in 65, 3 finer (11/12).(Registry values: P5)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23SE, PCGS# 5391)

    Weight: 6.68 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
