Description

1839 Seated Liberty Quarter, MS62
Open Claws, Onyx Patina

1839 25C No Drapery MS62 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. The 1839 issue had an impressive mintage of 491,146 pieces yet has an abysmal survivorship by comparison; PCGS and NGC have seen a combined total of 515 examples, of which resubmissions are expected, or just .001% of the original issue. The obverse is enveloped by deep onyx patina, while the reverse has rich golden-silver luster. The piece is exceptionally well-struck and has only minute abrasions, none of which prove overly negative to the austere appeal of the piece.(Registry values: P5)
