1848 25C AU58 PCGS. Briggs 1-A, Breen-3974. The scarcer "doubled date" variety. This issue is seldom seen above the VF level, perhaps due to speculator melting during the 1850s. The date is boldly repunched west. Well struck and richly toned. A noticeable scratch resides on the left obverse field. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 4 in 58, 8 finer (7/10).(Registry values: P5)
