Seldom Seen AU 1849-O Quarter1849-O 25C AU50 ICG. The 1849-O is the most elusive Seated quarter delivery from the New Orleans Mint, and is perhaps the rarest pre-1853 Seated quarter. Although no 1849-O quarters were listed with official mintage figures, researchers speculate that the New Orleans Mint's delivery of 396,000 quarters in 1850 included about 16,000 pieces dated 1849. Whatever the actual mintage figure may be, there is little doubt that heavy circulation and widespread melting during the peak of the California Gold Rush both took their toll on this extremely difficult issue. This is a minimally worn example with lustrous silver-gray surfaces and a touch of reddish-orange color about the peripheral devices.

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.View More Testimonials
