    1851 Quarter, MS64
    Sharp, Silver-White Example

1851 25C MS64 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. Many vertical lines extend upward into the horizontal lines on the reverse shield, confirming the Briggs 1-A die pair for this sharp and lustrous near-Gem quarter. Understandably scarce because much of its 160,000-piece mintage did not escape the melting pots, only a dozen or so pieces are numerically finer at both services combined. A light, mint-caused grease mark crosses Liberty's outstretched shin. Attractive nonetheless, with flashy surfaces and mint-fresh appeal. Population: 7 in 64, 8 finer (9/14).(Registry values: P4)
