Description

1842-O Seated Quarter, MS61
Major Condition Rarity in Any Mint State

1852-O 25C MS61 ANACS. Briggs 2-B. The mintmark is slightly left of center and does not touch the feather tip. Several (nearly all) of the horizontal shield lines extend left to the second shield border. This issue was struck slightly before the silver weight reduction in 1853. The 1852-O production numbered only 96,000 pieces. Many of those coins circulated to attrition or were later melted for their higher silver content. Accordingly, the 1852-O is very rare in Mint State. This colorfully toned MS61 is extra-sharp for the issue and shows only a few minor marks. Variegated blue and amber-gold toning surrounds the frosted silver central motifs. There is no discernible high-point circulation wear visible. The coin is housed in an early small ANACS Generation 4 holder with a barcode on the label. .
