Description

Originally Toned 1854 Arrows Quarter

1854 Arrows MS 65 NGC. Of constant interest to serious collectors, the Arrows type coins represent a distinct design type and one that symbolized a change in the weight of subsidiary coinage, both in the 1850s and again in the 1870s. This piece is obviously original with its pearl-gray centers that show a light overlay of speckled golden-rose color on the reverse. This same deeper patina surrounds the margins on both sides. Fully struck with excellent underlying luster, a small cluster of abrasions are noted in the lower left obverse field.
