1855 25C Arrows Doubled Die Obverse AU 53 SEGS. Briggs 6-F. Although not previously mentioned in any numismatic sources, this is a scarce die variety that displays faint doubling on LIBERTY's ribbon. While the coin is possessed of a bold impression, it also carries numerous hairlines that hold high the red flag of impairment and suggest an abrasive cleaning. Nonetheless, specialists in the series will relish the opportunity that this coin represents when it crosses the auction block.
