Condition Scarcity 1856 Gem Quarter

1856 25C MS65 NGC. The 1856, sporting a mintage of 7.624 million pieces, is one of the most common dates in the Seated Liberty quarter series. Examples in the better Mint State grades, however, such as this Gem offering, are much more difficult to acquire. Lustrous ice-blue surfaces are occasionally splashed with reddish-gold, yellow-gold, and sky-blue. Some typical strike weakness is noted over both sides. Nicely preserved. Census: 12 in 65, 4 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P2)
