Description

1856 25C MS 61 NGC. Briggs 6-D. This is a lovely coin despite the grade whose richly frosted devices contrast nicely with the more thinly veiled fields. As is typical of the issue, the strike is powerful and draws forth every last hair, star, drapery, and feather detail. Pale golden highlights have gathered about isolated areas of the rims, although we note that the balance of the surfaces exhibit snow-white brilliance. While numerous small bagmarks have accumulated in the fields, this piece is free of the large distractions that often plague lower Mint State pieces. We highly endorse this affordable piece among advanced type collectors.
