Description
Toned Gem 1859 Quarter
1859 25C MS65 PCGS. A number of quarters were set aside this year out of the mintage of 1.34 million pieces. Several dozen are known today in the various grades of Uncirculated. The present coin is, of course, among the finest known. The two major services have certified 13 pieces in Gem condition and another five are finer (8/07). Thickly frosted, as usual, with rich sea-green and rose toned surfaces. There are only a few minor field marks present that prevent an even higher grade.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23TL, PCGS# 5448, GSID# 5130)
