Description

1860-S Quarter, AU Details
Low-Mintage S-Mint Rarity

1860-S 25C -- Improperly Cleaned -- NCS. AU Details. Seated silver denominations rode in the back seat at San Francisco in the late 1850s and early 1860s; gold was king. The 56,000 Seated quarters struck in 1856 -- face value $14,000 -- contrast markedly with the 544,950 double eagles struck in the same year and mint, totaling nearly $11 million in face value. This hairlined 1860-S quarter is far more than a hole filler, showing excellent detailing and a bold strike over silvery surfaces with light rose accents.(Registry values: P8)
