Description

1861 Quarter, Frosty MS67
Condition Census Type Coin

1861 25C MS67 PCGS. Briggs 6-E. The silver-white surfaces are untoned and feature abundant mint frost throughout each side, creating abundant eye appeal. An excellent sharp strike is present, including full detail on all star centers and feathers and fletchings on the eagle that are quite sharp, if a tad shy of absolute. Generous mint luster prevails. The large mintage of this issue on the cusp of the Civil War was more than 4.8 million pieces, by far the largest P-mint emission of the decade of the 1860s. Even so, precious few survive as fine as this Superb Gem, one of six so graded at PCGS with one MS67+ marginally finer (6/15). This piece would make a knockout type coin.(Registry values: P2)
