Description

1867-S Quarter, MS64
Uncommonly Smooth Surfaces

1867-S 25C MS64 PCGS. From a mintage of just 48,000 pieces, the 1867-S Seated Liberty quarter is an elusive issue in all grades, and Mint State examples are rare, since no collector demand was present for mintmarked issues, and proofs satisfied the date sets then in vogue. The present coin is an attractive Choice specimen despite minor incompleteness of strike on the final three stars and the dentils near the date and STATES. The well-preserved and coruscating surfaces are blanketed in shades of golden-brown, lavender, and gray patina, with patches of amber on the reverse. Population: 2 in 64, 1 finer (12/15).(Registry values: P7)
