    1870-CC Quarter, VG Details
    Interesting Extra Strikes on Reverse

1870-CC 25C -- Damaged -- NGC Details. VG. The 1870-CC quarter is an important issue within the Seated Liberty series, the first of the denomination from the historic Carson City Mint. This piece shows a decent amount of detail remaining on the reverse in particular, but that side also shows a trio of curved strikes in the upper portion, apparently from another overlying coin or planchet. Was this created at the mint, or after? A coin that will appeal to both Seated quarter collectors and possibly error specialists. We are not sure that the so-called "caveat" does not increase the appeal here.
From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.
