Description

1872 Quarter Dollar, Lustrous MS65
Rare in Mint State

1872 25C MS65 PCGS. The 1872 Seated Liberty quarter boasts a low mintage of 182,000 circulation strikes and is difficult to locate in all grades, due in part to many probably having been melted in the 1873 silver melt. Larry Briggs (1991) assigns a rarity rating of R.6+ to Uncirculated pieces. Soft cobalt-blue, lavender, and orange-gold patina adorns the obverse while light russet visits the reverse. Lustrous surfaces are well struck. Population: 1 in 65, 1 finer (6/13).(Registry values: P4)
