Description

1872-CC 25C PCGS Genuine. The PCGS number ending in .98 suggests Damage as the reason that PCGS deems this coin ungradeable. A highly appealing example with microscopic surface marks that indicate it may have been whizzed. Still an extremely important opportunity for the specialist to acquire an example of this low-mintage issue, surviving from a production of just 22,850 coins. Deep smoke-gray toning under a light reveals attractive aqua tints. A few moderate abrasions are noted under the scroll on the reverse and in the right obverse field, but the devices are largely free of distracting abrasions. PCGS has only certified four examples in AU50 or finer grades.
