1872-CC Seated Quarter, VF20
Low Mintage, Low Survival CC Issue

1872-CC 25C VF20 PCGS. Briggs 1-A. Based on the scant number
of surviving 1872-CC quarters, the reported 22,850-piece mintage
may or may not be accurate, but the actual mintage matters less
than the number of coins that exist in all grades. It is rarer than
the 1871-CC and the 1872-CC seldom exceeds the VF level. A single
die pair accomplished the entire mintage, easily identified by a
diagonal die gouge that extends from the rock support through the
lower obverse shield toward RT of LIBERTY. This VF20 example is
strong for its grade, with light silver-gray toning and bold rims
surrounding well-defined motifs. The coin is housed in a Generation
2.1 green label PCGS holder. PCGS Population: 4 in 20, 26 finer
