Condition Census 1875 Seated Liberty Quarter

1875 25C MS67 NGC. The 1875 (4.2 million pieces produced) is the first of the high mintage P-mint Seated Quarters from the late 1870s. Needless to say, this date is not a rarity, well, at least not in lower grades. To date, however, NGC has seen only five coins in MS67, with none finer, and PCGS has not certified a single example above the MS66 level (5/01). This is a lovely coin for the toning enthusiast. The obverse is colored in lavender-gray shades with multicolored iridescence drawn toward the peripheries. The reverse, on the other hand, exhibits a mottled blanket of golden-blue and lavender-gray colors. Thickly frosted, crisply defined over the focal features, and nearly abrasion-free.
    From the Genaitis Collection of 1875 Coinage. (NGC ID# 23UX, PCGS# 5498)

Another major house refused the work stating it was too unique for the artist. Heritage saw that as an advantage!
