    1875-CC Quarter Dollar, MS64+
    Conditionally Rare Carson City Issue

1875-CC 25C MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Briggs 2-B. The Carson City Mint experienced a spike in subsidiary silver coinage in 1875. Dime production rose to more than 4.6 million pieces from a low five-figure total the previous year, quarter production climbed to 140,000 coins, and half dollar coinage topped 1 million coins. These issues circulated extensively in the Western territories to the detriment of their survival in high grade. The 1875-CC quarter was the most impacted by attrition due to having the smallest mintage of the three denominations. Quarter dollar production climbed again the following year, this time to nearly 5 million coins, to supply the demands of commerce.

The 1875-CC quarter is a rarity in Mint State and in Gem condition commands prices beyond what the typical collector can expend. This Plus-graded Choice coin offers a balance between cost and quality. The strike is sharp and the surfaces are frosty. Original lavender and peach-gold toning graces each side in equal amounts. Population: 7 in 64 (1 in 64+), 6 finer. CAC: 2 in 64, 8 finer (6/17).(Registry values: P4)
