Very Scarce Gem Uncirculated 1875-CC Quarter1875-CC 25C MS65 NGC. A scarce, low mintage issue that is an important rarity in the series with Mint State pieces rating a strong R.5 by Larry Briggs. Only three other pieces have been accorded the Gem grade by NGC (11/03) with PCGS having also graded one. The surfaces of this piece are satiny, as usual, and mostly brilliant with just a touch of light color on each side. Fully struck in all areas except for the radials on a couple of the stars. The only mark of note is a horizontal scrape in the right obverse field out from the knee of Liberty.
Ex: 1996 ANA Sale (Heritage, 8/96), lot 7086, where it brought $9,075.
