Single Finest NGC-Certified Business Strike 1876 Quarter

1876 25C MS67 ★ NGC. Briggs 1-A. Bands of navy-blue and golden-brown patina grace the lower obverse border and the upper reverse margin. Impressive cartwheel luster rolls across the lightly marked surfaces. Intricately struck, and worthy of inclusion in a superior type set. Type One Reverse, best identified by the closely spaced bases on the TAT in STATES, found on a slim minority of the issue since production from the Type Two hubs began in 1875. As of (2/05), the present Superb Gem is the single finest business strike 1876 Quarter certified by NGC, although five pieces have been graded at the MS67 level without a star designation.(#5501) (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 23V2, PCGS# 5501)
