    1876-S Quarter, MS66
    Ex: Eliasberg, Gardner

    1876-S 25C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Ex: Eliasberg. Type Two Reverse. Pearl-gray and pale lilac tones on the obverse show accents of orange, the latter color spreading on the reverse to dominate the color palette. Described in the Eliasberg catalog as: "MS-65, prooflike. A splendid specimen struck from highly polished dies, not quite the equivalent of a Philadelphia Mint Proof, but far and away more prooflike than typically seen." The 1876-S quarter is a rarity in MS66, and none are known finer. Population: 6 in 66, 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 66, 0 finer (5/16).
