1877-S 25C Over Horizontal S MS63 NGC. Briggs 4-D, a popular and elusive variety, this example readily reveals traces of its undermintmark. Cobalt-blue, purple, and gold-tan patina dances over the lustrous surfaces of this well struck Select quarter. A few trivial marks limit the grade.Ex: Westchester Collection and other consignments (Bowers and Merena, 2/1987), lot 1708.
