Description

1878 25C MS 64 PCGS. The richly frosted surfaces are a few trivial abrasions away from an even higher grade. Both sides are originally toned in mottled golden, champagne, and russet shades that deepen toward the borders. The 1878 is a remarkably scarce issue despite an original mintage of 2.2 million pieces, many of which may have been melted to provide bullion for Morgan dollar production.
