Description

1878-CC Quarter, MS66+
Heyday of the Carson City Mint

1878-CC 25C MS66+ NGC. CAC. The obverse shows mottled amber-gold, pale blue, and russet patina along with a few clash marks, while the reverse is largely untoned. Both sides boast an excellent, sharp strike, and there are few signs of contact visible even with a loupe. The mintage of this Seated quarter issue was just shy of 1 million coins, the heyday for the Carson City Mint (from 1876-1878) due to the large silver bullion deposits flowing in from the nearby Comstock Lode. Census: 8 in 66 (2 in 66+, 1 in 66+ ★ ), 1 finer (7/13).(Registry values: P2)
