Description
1878-CC Quarter Dollar, Toned MS67
Top-Grade Condition Rarity
1878-CC 25C MS67 PCGS. Briggs 1-B. A heavy diagonal die line
across Liberty's lap identifies Obverse 1, and mintmark placement
confirms Reverse B. As a date, the 1878-CC Seated Liberty quarter
is plentiful in the context of Carson City issues, but it becomes
conditionally rare in high grade. Gems are borderline rare, and
MS66 coins are definitively rare. The finest pieces are graded
MS67, where PCGS lists three coins and NGC one. The current coin is
among these elite Condition Census examples, and it is a top-grade
coin we have not previously handled. Frosty, pristine mint luster
complements a bold strike, while beautiful sea-green, blue, violet,
and orange-gold toning encompasses each side. This is only the
third Superb Gem offering of this issue in our auctions in the last
decade. Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (8/25).(Registry values: P2)From The Altamura Family Collection.
