Description

1878-CC 25C MS 62 PCGS. Briggs 2-B. The obverse of this piece displays deep, mottled milky-gray and antique-copper toning that inhibits the cartwheel sheen of its underlying luster. The reverse, on the other hand, exhibits markedly lighter golden-gray and champagne-blue iridescence that does not prevent one's full appreciation of the boldly impressed devices and rich endowment of mint frost. While the obverse toning scheme apparently accounts for the MS 62 designation, we note that this is a suitable Mint State specimen whose originality should not be overlooked.
