Description

1878-CC 25C MS 62 NGC. Briggs 1-B. This is a pleasing example of the "Cancelled Obverse Die" variety that possesses eye appeal well beyond the pale of its designated grade. The few scattered abrasions that have gathered on the frosty surfaces are well concealed beneath this coin's gorgeous, multicolored toning. While the strike is essentially complete, we note slight lack of definition on a few of the star centers. Despite a low original delivery of only 996,000 pieces, this coin is relatively easy to obtain through the MS 64 grade tier.
