Colorful Superb Gem 1881 Quarter1881 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. This sharply struck Superb Gem is adorned by electric-blue and copper-brown on the obverse, mainly near the periphery. The reverse is no less original, but the colors are markedly different, with much lighter mottled pastel green and antique-gold around the border. A virtually blemish-free representative of this ever-popular date, with a mintage of just 12,000 business strikes. Population: 5 in 67, 1 finer (11/08).
Ex: Charlotte ANA Signature (Heritage, 3/2007), lot 662, which realized $6,900.
