Description

1885 Seated Quarter, MS67+
Two-Sided Rainbow Toning
Tied for Finest Certified Piece

1885 25C MS67+ PCGS. Briggs 2-A. Mint State examples of the 1885 Seated Liberty quarter are more plentiful than the mintage of 13,600 pieces would suggest, as many were saved at the time of issue. However, the issue becomes conditionally rare at Superb Gem. This example is tied with one other MS67+ as the finest certified (NGC reports an MS68 that is a known duplicate and has been crossed from the NGC holder). Lovely two-sided toning paints the margins in deep amber, with gold, mint-green, blue, and lilac shadings emerging toward the centers. The right-hand border stars are soft, but the strike is sharp otherwise. No distracting abrasions are evident.(Registry values: P2)
