    Description

    Desirable 1891 Quarter, MS67 NGC

1891 25C MS67 NGC. Larry Briggs, Liberty Seated quarter specialist, notes that the 1891 issue is in general very poorly struck. The current example is a notable exception. Liberty's head shows nice definition, as does the shoulder clasp, all the letters in LIBERTY, and the separation between the foot and the sandal. The stars around the upper left obverse border, on the other hand, exhibit softness in the center. All of the reverse devices are well struck, and the dentilation is strong on both sides. The satiny surfaces emit flashy luster, and are close to being all white. Close inspection, however, reveals areas of faint milky-gray patina. The only visible marks are a few small abrasions on Liberty's right hand and in the adjacent field.(#5524) (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 23VR, PCGS# 5524)
