    Description

Extremely Scarce Gem 1891-O Seated Quarter

1891-O MS 65 PCGS. A bold striking with mildly prooflike surfaces under a thin veil of golden-gray patina. The surfaces are very clean and vibrant with just a few tiny marks visible on the obverse figure and in the right field. Solid Condition Census for this branch mint rarity, one of just 68,000 quarters produced at the New Orleans facility after a hiatus of 31 years, and a stunning coin in every respect. Only the magnificent Eliasberg specimen that was later graded MS 68 by NGC is significantly finer.
Ex: Ronald W. Brown Acadiana Collection of the Chicago ANA (Heritage, 8/99), lot 6925, where it realized $12,650. (NGC ID# 23VS, PCGS# 5525)
