Description
1856 25C Fine 12 SEGS, Briggs 14-M, quite heavily worn, the surfaces of this piece display charcoal-gray toning that deepens markedly in the fields; 1856 Fine 15 Cleaned, Briggs 11-J, visibly mishandled and possessed of numerous hairlines beneath its slate-gray toning, this coin displays exceptionally poor definition on the eagle's left (facing) leg and the arrow feathers; 1856 VF 30 Corroded, Cleaned, Briggs 12-K, while the harsh cleaning has left the majority of this example's surfaces with an unnaturally bright sheen, it has failed to remove all of the dark corrosion from the protected areas on both sides; 1856 XF 40, Briggs 9-G, on this die variety, what appears to be the top of an errant 5 is embedded along the lower right border of the obverse shield; 1856 XF 40, Briggs 15-N, this is a pleasing, original piece with moderate toning and even wear; and an 1856 XF 40, Briggs 16-O, another original piece, a few digs in the obverse field interrupt this piece's otherwise smooth, charcoal-gray surfaces. All coins are SEGS encapsulated.
