Description

1876-CC 25C AG 3 Obverse Scratch SEGS, Type One Reverse, Large CC, merged rims and peripheral devices, as well as a sizeable scratch through the central obverse, serve to limit this coin's eye appeal; 1876-CC Good 6 Cleaned, Fine Edge Reeding, Briggs 15-M, heavy hairlines abound on this light charcoal-gray specimen; 1876-CC Good 6, Fine Edge Reeding, Briggs 15-M, contrary to the current Guide Book, Larry Briggs (1991) asserts that the 1876-CC quarter with Fine Edge Reeding is not a rare coin and is, in fact, the most common variety of its issue; 1876-CC VG 8, Briggs 16-P, the charcoal-gray patina that blankets the recessed areas of this heavily worn specimen lighten to dove-gray over the highpoints; 1876-CC VG 10 Cleaned, Fine Edge Reeding, Briggs 18-G, despite extensive circulation, this example is essentially free of distracting surface impairments; 1876-CC VF 20 Corroded, Briggs 16-J, while this piece's unfortunate endowment of dark corrosion has only affected select areas of the obverse periphery, it envelops the entire reverse; 1876-CC VF 25, Crushed Edging, Briggs 16-J, since this variety is not listed in Larry Briggs' Comprehensive Encyclopedia of United States Liberty Seated Quarters, we can not discern what he means by "Crushed Edging;" 1876-CC VF 20, Briggs 16-S, moderately worn and possessed of pleasing pastel-lilac hues; 1876-CC VF 20, Briggs 20-T, while this is an original, deeply toned specimen, its reverse rim displays unusually heavy wear for the assigned grade; 1876-CC VF 25 "Lite Cleaning", Briggs 17-L, a novice numismatist unfortunately cleaned this CC-mint quarter in an effort to remove the dark toning that still clings to the lower left obverse; 1876-CC VF 30, Briggs 19-T, rich dove-gray patina blankets both sides of this pleasing circulated specimen; 1876-CC XF 45 Cleaned, Briggs 20-T, although this coin displays noteworthy definition, its milky-gray sheen betrays an old cleaning and limits its final assessment; and an 1876-CC XF 45, Briggs 20-T, this lightly worn, charcoal-gray specimen would do justice to any circulated type set. All coins are SEGS certified.
