Description

1876-CC 25C Good 6 SEGS, Briggs 4-N, a heavy indentation over the lower loop of the 6 in the date makes it hard for one to discern the repunching that characterizes this die variety; 1876-CC VG 10 Cleaned, Briggs 5-R, an abrasive cleaning agent has left this heavily worn specimen with numerous hairlines and a golden-gray hue; 1876-CC/C VG 10 Cleaned, Briggs 6-E, heavy wear and noticeable mishandling seem to have removed all traces of the diagnostic doubling on the second C in the mintmark; 1876-CC VG 10, Type One Reverse, Small CC, Briggs 10-J, deep charcoal and lavender toning blankets both sides of this example and serves to obscure some of its remaining design elements; 1876-CC Fine 12 "Lite Cleaning", Briggs 1-A, despite some light incrustation throughout both sides, this specimen still displays the small, widely spaced mintmark that it shares with the rare 1873-CC No Arrows issue; 1876-CC Fine 15, Type Two Reverse, Large CC, Briggs 14-L, deeply toned in variegated charcoal and gray shades; 1876-CC VF 20 Cleaned, Briggs 2-Q, despite scattered hairlines and obvious wear, the severe obverse die rust that typifies this variety is still somewhat visible throughout Liberty's body; 1876-CC VF 20 Cleaned, Briggs 5-O, this coin's below average eye appeal is due to its unnaturally bright silver-white sheen; 1876-CC VF 20, Briggs 2-Q, faint repunching is visible on the base of the 6 when one studies this coin's date under suitable magnification; 1876-CC VF 30, Crushed Edging, Briggs 7-F, suitably detailed and lightly toned, this is an attractive coin for the grade; 1876-CC Doubled Die Obverse XF 40 Scratched, Cleaned, Briggs 13-L, one would require a loupe to discern the diagnostic doubling within the obverse shield that characterizes this scarcer die variety; and an 1876-CC XF 45 Old Cleaning, Briggs 3-B, this coin has retoned in deep antique-copper and lavender-gray shades that masks its evidence of prior mishandling. All coins are SEGS encapsulated.
