    Description

1858-S 25C -- Scratch -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Briggs 2-B. The 1858-S has a low mintage of 121,000 pieces, and its survival rate was meager, since few if any Gold Rush participants collected coins. When encountered, the '58-S is usually in XF or lower grades. The present lightly circulated example has a good strike and faint wheat-gold toning. Two parallel thin marks cross the lower obverse, and both sides display delicate hairlines.
