    Description

    Scarce Mint State 1860-O Quarter

1860-O 25C MS64 PCGS. Golden-brown patination, exhibiting deeper shades and splashes of gunmetal-blue and crimson around the margins, bathes lustrous surfaces on each side. The design elements are well impressed, the only exception being centril weakness in the stars along the upper obverse border. The reverse exhibits strong clash marks in the field beneath the eagle's neck, where the letters RTY of LIBERTY from the obverse shield ribbon show clearly. A couple of moderate-sized abrasions on Liberty's right arm above the elbow preclude a higher grade. This issue is very scarce in Mint State condition. Population: 5 in 64, 2 finer (3/04).
From the JFS Collection.(#5452) (Registry values: P5)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23TR, PCGS# 5452)
