    Description

    1872-S Quarter, Fine 15
    Rarest S-Mint
    Probable Melt Issue

1872-S 25C Fine 15 PCGS. Rare in all grades, the 1872-S had a smallish mintage of 83,000 pieces, some of which may have been melted in 1873. This is a problem-free Choice Fine example, with well-defined rims and strong motif details. LIBERTY is fully readable, and the eagle's wings show unexpected feather definition. Varying shades of tan and gray toning provide much natural eye appeal. Population: 5 in 15, 29 finer (3/20).(Registry values: P8)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23UT, PCGS# 5483)

    Weight: 6.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
