Amazing Gem 1866 Rays Nickel
1866 5C Rays MS65 NGC. Untoned with a rather shallow, satiny luster and an inconsistent strike resulting from visible stress on the dies. An advanced die crack arcs under IN GOD on the obverse. First year of issue for the Shield nickels, and for the nickel denomination. NGC has only certified 22 finer pieces (8/08).From The Menlo Park Collection.(Registry values: N2998)
