Premium Gem 1870 Shield Nickel
Rare in MS66
1870 5C MS66 PCGS. The 1870 Shield nickel is a scarce issue
in all grades, and very rare at the Premium Gem level. NGC has
certified six coins in MS66, with only one finer; while PCGS has
graded eight examples in MS66, with none finer (12/09). The present
coin features attractive olive-gray surfaces with strong mint
luster. Many interesting obverse die cracks are evident.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22P4, PCGS# 3797, GSID# 2873)
