1871 5C MS65 NGC. The skimpy mintage of the 1871 Shield nickel was only 561,000 coins, and few Gems survive today. This fortunate example boasts pinkish-gold patina over problem-free surfaces that show considerable field-device contrast. An attractive coin for this seldom-seen issue.
