Description

Near-Gem 1883/2 Shield Nickel
FS-013.1

1883/2 5C MS64 PCGS. FS-013.1. One of four varieties known of overdate for 1883. This one shows the bottom curve of the 2 just to the left of the 3. There is also a distinctive die crack that begins to the right of the date, goes through the ball, and terminates above the left side of the 1. The surfaces are untoned with satiny mint luster. Sharply struck. There is just the slightest sprinkling of carbon that prevents an even higher grade.
