    Description

1967 SMS Kennedy Half, MS68 Ultra Cameo
    Visually Inseparable From a Proof

1967 50C SMS MS68 Ultra Cameo NGC. The Special Mint Set halves of 1965 to 1967 come with widely varying degrees of field mirroring and cameo contrast. The finest pieces, struck from the earliest die states, show prooflike surface quality, such as the Ultra Cameo coin offered here. Each side is fully contrasted and displays infinite depth of mirroring in the fields, accented by a light golden tint. Efforts to find surface flaws with a loupe are fruitless. A rarity this fine, with finer pieces virtually unknown. Census: 28 in 68 Ultra Cameo, 1 finer (1/20).(Registry values: N491) (NGC ID# 24WJ, PCGS# 96847)

    Weight: 11.50 grams

Metal: 80% Silver, 20% Copper, 20.90% Inner core Silver, 79.10% Copper

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato is the culmination of more than 10 years of research into the Draped Bust Small Eagle half dollar series, one of the most coveted type coins in American numismatics and one about which remarkably little has been written.

This work will be the premier reference for 1796-1797 half dollars for years to come. Institutions having an extensive numismatic library or coin cabinet will find it a valuable complement to their holdings, and catalogers charged with writing up specimens for auction can now have an indispensable source of background and pedigree information. Likewise, coin dealers seeking to purchase one or more '96 or '97 half dollars for a client or for inventory, and collectors who own, have owned, or desire to own one will want this important reference work for their libraries.
