Description
1966 25C SMS MS68 Cameo PCGS. For the collector who is accustomed to Cameo Proof coinage, this example will look different. These "Special Mint Set" coins replaced the Proof coins at the time of issue from 1965 to 1967. Proof coins were not produced during those three years. Lightly toned with attractive gold color over nickel-gray surfaces. The devices have satiny luster with reflective but not deeply mirrored fields. PCGS has certified exactly one finer Deep Cameo example at this grade level, thus this coin essentially represents the finest available quality. Population: 8 in 68, 0 finer (4/14).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2005), lot 3046.
