"Days of '49" Octagonal Slug Facsimile. Gilt brass octagonal slug facsimile, 40 mm x 40 mm x 2.8 mm thick, 27.4 gm. A "Days of '49" octagonal slug facsimile with the obverse hearkening back to the original Humbert-Assay Office slugs, featuring an eagle perched on a rock with scroll in its mouth. This obverse features a small defect between the 85 in the date and an irregular bottom to the shield stripes on the obverse, as made. The reverse features a miner panning scene with legend around THE DAYS OF OLD THE DAYS OF GOLD THE DAYS OF '49 CALIFORNIA. Produced by Irvine & Jachens before 1912. Uncirculated, in a CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH black small-size Capital plastic holder.
